This course is aimed at artists wanting to add ‘realtime’ to their tool set. We will be focusing on Unreal Engine 5, a game engine built for artists and now utilised across a range of different industries.

Meet your tutor, Hussin Khan

As an experienced and passionate trainer, Hussin has spent the last 13 years building a successful training business, helping thousands of people develop their skills in various software tools. As an Authorized Unreal Engine Instructor, Nuke and Adobe Certified Instructor, he is committed to delivering high-quality training that empowers individuals to achieve their goals. This module will cover:

  • Texture Guidelines

  • Animating Materials

Learn to make your virtual worlds pop and come to life in Unreal Engine by mastering lighting and atmospherics.

This module will cover:

  • Lighting Methods in UE5

  • Light Terminology

  • Types of Lights & Mobility

  • Viewport Modes

  • Post Process Volume

  • Lumen vs Path Tracing

  • Indoor and Outdoor Lighting setups

  • Environment Light Mixer

  • Creating Landscapes & Foliage

Learn how to level up your Unreal Engine virtual world with the Sequencer and Animation.

This module will cover:

  • The Level Sequencer

  • Cine Camera Actor

  • Keyframing

  • Creating Sequences/Shots/Takes

  • Camera Rig Rail & Crane PM

  • Basic Character Animation

  • Movie Render Queue (MRQ)

  • CVars

  • Render setup

This module will cover:

  • What is Blueprints?

  • Exploring Content Examples

  • Level Blueprint vx Blueprint Class

  • Creating interactions

  • Changing materials with Blueprints

  • Creating an array tool with Blueprint

  • Creating self-running animations

  • Creating dynamic assets

Learn how to utilise Unreal Engine's system to create stunning effects and simulations.

This module will cover:

  • Converting Cascade to Niagra FX

  • Creating your first Niagara FX

  • Creating a custom Niagara FX

  • Creating SubUV Animation

  • Using Mesh renderer PM

  • Creating Particle lights

  • Controlling FX simulations

  • Introduction to Niagara fluids

  • Introduction to liquid simulations

More Information

Unreal Engine 5

Good understanding of English. The course is open to everyone but you are expected to have studied module one before any of the other modules.

Participants to install Unreal Engine 5.3.

Please ensure PC meets the hardware and software specifications.

Exercise files (if any) will be provided prior to the session.

Exercise files are to be downloaded, and opened once to compile shared prior to the session.

Dual monitor setup is recommended.

We can provide remote access to our workstations during teaching time. Due to availability restrictions, we highly advise you to have your own set up at home to study in your own time.

More things you’ll need:

  • A strong internet connection

  • Cloud storage or external hard drive to back up your work, 1TB+ recommended

  • A three-button mouse or graphics tablet. Please note, the Wacom Intuos Pro range of tablets have the best support for our remote desktop software and provide the best experience.

  • A computer microphone (and optionally a webcam)

  • Note-taking materials.
